Gutta Pecha Vertical Condensation (Segmented Cone)

After a standard evenly tapered prep is made and cement has been introduced to the apical portion of the canal, successive small tapered segments of gutta perca cone are picked up on the tip of a heated condenser and seated as far apically in the preparation as possible.

The condenser is used to further condense each one.

This is basically the same as warm gutta percha except that the condenser is not intended to heat-soften and mold each segment of gutta percha that is added to the mass already in the canal.

A variation on this technique is to inject a small quantity of molten gutta percha with gutta percha injector gun and then to condense it.
